Greetings, fellow gerbils!
Hey there, it's Gerry here! As you may have gathered, I am a gerbil and this is a blog about my life on this planet. I appear to humans through a machine called the GerbilMaestro, which is an exact copy of my master. I control this machine and most of the time pretend to be my master in front of other humans.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog. Thanks a gerbillion!

Quote Week 2018: January - Day 7

"Facebook Stories, what are they good for?"
- The Crew

Story behind quote:
The crew were discussing how they know very few people who use Facebook Stories, in fact the only person that came to mind was someone from the Academy, let's call her Jeanne.

Jen suggested that perhaps if the whole crew started using the Stories function they could make it more popular within their circles, however it is more likely that they would become the Jeanne of other people's lives.

Note: We are not affiliated with Facebook.

Quote Week 2018: January - Day 6

"Good evening, my good sir! Can we have a pitcher of your finest Tu-itty Fru-itty, please?"
- The Crew

Story behind quote:
Whilst down at the local pub, the crew spotted a new drink on the menu which was spelled 'Tuity Fruity', which didn't sit right with any of us. Jen, tasked with ordering drinks, was dared to pronounce it as 'Tu-itty Fru-itty' to the bartender, however didn't go through with it for fear of bursting out laughing.

What was rather impressive was the colour of it, as shown below.

It was actually lovely and tropical, would 100% recommend!

Quote Week 2018: January - Day 5

"My friend, I have a deep and dark secret which I am most ashamed of..."
- H.W. to L.R.

Story behind quote:
Wicks confesses to Cap that she joined a historical reenactment group.

To put this into context, a member of the Academy, who was not particularly popular, used to boast of his reenactment adventures on a regular basis, which gave us all a rather negative impression of the sport. However Wicks' group sounds simply delightful, a real band of merry men.

Quote Week 2018: January - Day 4

Company X employee: "Hello, this is Company X."
Jen: "Hello, is Jeanne [pronounced Jean] available?"
Company X employee: "No, I think you've got the wrong company"
Jen: "I may be pronouncing the name wrong, I mean Jeanne [pronounced Genie]...?"
Company X employee: "Oh you mean Jeanne [pronounced Jan]..."
- J.C.

Story behind quote:
Jen recounts a scenario from work where she was looking for a person named Jeanne from Company X. She'd only ever seen the name written, so took to the Internet before the call to investigate the correct pronunciation; the last thing she wanted was to sound stupid whilst on the phone. The baby name websites were split between Jean and Genie, so Jen decided to take a gamble on the former. Unfortunately neither were correct.

Quote Week 2018: January - Day 3

Cap: "You know microwave meals?"
Jen: "Who?!"
- L.R. J.C.

Story behind quote:
In Jen's defence, the crew were sat in a rather noisy pub, which led to her thinking she heard "you know Michael O'Neill", a character that we don't know particularly well.

Anyways, Cap was remarking on how it is that supermarkets come up with microwave times for different meals; do they just figure it out through trial and error, or is there a more exact science to it all? The crew continued to contemplate the people whose jobs it must be to test all this out.

Quote Week 2018: January - Day 2

"...tautologous"
- J.C. to (a rather confused) S.A.

Story behind quote:
I don't remember exactly what the conversation was about, but somewhere down the line Jen thought to confirm the meaning of the word 'tautologous' with Slickens.

To settle it once and for all, Dictionary.com defines it as "needless repetition of an idea..."

Quote Week 2018: January - Day 1

"We can just twist our bodies!"
- Can't remember who it was, definitely one of H.W. S.A. or L.R.

Story behind quote:
Whilst planning our next games night, the crew were thinking of games to play. Jen suggested Messy Twister, although it is not particularly indoor-friendly. One of Wicks, Slickens, or Cap suggested just the vanilla version, which I'm sure would be more appropriate.

Note: We are not affiliated with Hasbro. Other games are available.

*Raises a glass to 2018*

Happy New Year, everyone!

I hope 2018 is a successful one for you and all of your loved ones.

You've guessed it, I'm back. How nice and familiar it feels to sit here and type this out to you; to be honest I've rather missed this whole interface. For those of you who might be curious, this is what it looks like whenever I'm writing a post:

So I've decided to do a little more blogging, it might just be a bit of fun for the both of us. What do you say, are you in?

I won't promise regular posts, but there will be bits and pieces whenever I feel like there's something to talk about. Let's start off with something easy, like a Quote Week. Yes, I think we've got just enough for 7 days even without me stretching things out over multiple days (I know how much it annoys Slickens).

Also, my cat, Hino-san, says hi.

So that's all I've got to say for now.

Until next time, have a good one.
