Greetings, fellow gerbils!
Hey there, it's Gerry here! As you may have gathered, I am a gerbil and this is a blog about my life on this planet. I appear to humans through a machine called the GerbilMaestro, which is an exact copy of my master. I control this machine and most of the time pretend to be my master in front of other humans.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog. Thanks a gerbillion!

Weekly News Round-Up #33: 15/09/2013

Yo, wassup diggy dawgz?! Hope you've all had a smashing week, I know I have. Let's recount some of the most memorable moments...

First off, Wicks has managed to rename the Maths course that ConscienceSarah and Master are taking. It is now called 'Too Much Maths'. Here's how one would use it in conversation:
"What lesson do you have next?"
"I've got Too Much Maths."

I think it has to be said that it's been a rather wasp-y week. We've all been on high alert at lunchtimes to make sure no insects come near us. According to Wicks, the reason for the abundance of wasps is because the wasp population is currently at an all time high. We then commented on the fact that our conversation seemed to turn into a report on some sort of wasp stock exchange.

Wednesday was a day for walking. After lunch, the whole year went on a leisurely walk around the park as part of our enrichment activity this week. This provided an opportunity to discuss many a topic...
  • Topic 1: Most inconvenient enrichment activities
From now on, we all have to do an enrichment activity on a Wednesday afternoon. There are plenty of options such as sports, art, debate clubs, etc. or you can even create your own if none of those take your fancy. However, ANT devised an intelligent plan to avoid doing enrichment. The idea was that we should start a club for extremely inconvenient activities, where they can only be done under particular conditions. Some examples that we came up with were kite-flying (if we don't have the right amount of wind, then we can't do it) and white water rafting (the tide has to be just right).
  • Topic 2: The Last Airbender
Much of our time was spent with Wicks recounting the series 'The Last Airbender'. Let me tell you now, there's some good plot twists in there...
  • Topic 3: Decomposition
With the light always comes the dark. With that being said, ANT decided to add the dark into our nice afternoon trek. We joked that we would be given a tour of the park. Master first said, 'And here we have a blade of grass...', but ANT decided to take it one step further and proceeded to say, 'Here, on your right, we have a dead, decomposing squirrel, but it won't be there for long because the vultures will be out at dusk.' (Please note that there was no dead squirrel or any vultures.) Eventually the conversation morphed into a rather sick, twisted dream about a decomposing squirrel being attacked by noodles and vultures with Warwick Davis' head... (I cannot seem to recall how the conversation took such a turn.)

In other lunchtime news, Master has been having salad every day. We've started researching into what we'll call 'Salad Theorem', where we should eventually be able to predict how much salad is eaten after a certain amount of time. The end result is that the clear container, which holds the salad, shall have, marked on the side, certain times where the salad reaches a certain point on the side of the container. Here is the concept art:
We're currently in very early stages, but we'll make sure to keep you updated on our progress.

Later on in the week, the unexpected happened. Master was in a Business lesson and the opportunity to write the words 'promotion prospects' arose! Here's the photo evidence:

As a follow up to the wasp talk earlier in the week, we were all about spider talk on Friday. ANT kindly shared with us her story about Wilson, a spider who was in her room for a number of days.

In that same lunchtime, Master acquired some app homework from ANT, which was to play 'Cut the Rope', 'Tiny Tower' and 'Top Girl'. And this, ladies and gentlemen, was the inspiration for our new Wednesday segment, 'What's App-ening Wednesday?' Tune in for an app review every week!

Until next week, have a good one ;)
