Greetings, fellow gerbils!
Hey there, it's Gerry here! As you may have gathered, I am a gerbil and this is a blog about my life on this planet. I appear to humans through a machine called the GerbilMaestro, which is an exact copy of my master. I control this machine and most of the time pretend to be my master in front of other humans.
I hope you enjoy reading my blog. Thanks a gerbillion!

Weekly News Round-Up #1: 23/09/2012

In case you forgot to check the Weekly News Round-Up column last week, here is what happened:

Sunday 23rd September 2012
This week we have been a little short on numbers. ANT was unfortunately ill all week, along with Wadz, who was only present on Friday. Also, some people were on history trips on Thursday and Friday. By pure coincidence, Ireland's eccentric duo, Jedward, were also there! It still puzzles many why of all the places that Jedward can spend their day off on, they chose a war museum.
Anyway, onto more academic matters. After Nasha Academy's new principal's inspirational assembly last week, this Wednesday, we were presented with the pleasure of having our assembly taken by the new vice-principal! It was indeed a most informative 20 minutes ever in my life, with an important under-lying message.
Through the assembly, the vice-principal talked us through the many stages of him preparing his dining room wall for redecoration (For anyone who is attempting the gruelling challenge of DIY, the vice mentioned the website, www.diyfixit.co.uk, which he found most helpful). After sanding, scrubbing, masking taping, etc. came the actual painting part. Of course, at this part, we were all questioning why in the world our new vice-principal was telling us all this. Well, my fellow Gerbil friends, prepare to be enlightened. The message of his assembly was that in order to achieve the best possible end result, preparation is key. (For those who are asking, yes, his dining room did end up looking spectacular, well, that's at least what he told us)
So there's the message for all of you to think about this week.
Until next week, have a good one :)

If you've got a spare moment, why not check out this week's round-up of events?

It starts tomorrow...

...Yes! You all know what I'm talking about. The beginning of a new month means the beginning of another week of quotes! Tune in all next week, starting tomorrow, for a bunch of random things that people said. I know, you wouldn't miss it for the world eh? ;)

Happy Birthday, Google!

As many of you will know, today is Google's 14th birthday! Indeed, I cannot believe it's been so many years, but I think we owe them a massive thank you for helping up with, well, almost everything! I don't know how many detentions I would have, for not doing my homework, without Google! :)

Welcome back, ANT!

After having 6 days off of school, ANT has finally returned from battling her illness. To be honest, we were all very worried on the 6th day as normally the most that ANT would have off would be 5! But yes, we are very glad to have you back, ANT! :D

It has just been updated, so why not go check it out right now if you've got a spare minute or two?! Happy reading :)

Mini news update for the week

Hey Gerbils!

Just thought I'd do a little round-up of this week's news at Nasha Academy! Here goes...

After an uneventful Monday and Tuesday, Wednesday was kicked off with our first proper assembly of the year! I am sure you would be glad to hear that this assembly was given by none other than the new principal of Nasha Academy. During his speech, he presented to us his vision of the future of the Academy, which I must admit looks very promising! But I must tell you all, the most impressive part of the whole assembly was his slideshow! Everybody was positively amazed at how the presentation didn't just go from slide to slide, but was one whole image and it zoomed into different points. It is difficult to describe, but all you need to know is that it was just utterly fantastic!

Finally, we shall end on a quote from the assembly:

"God gave us two ears and one mouth, therefore we should do double the amount of listening than talking in our lifetimes."
- The new principal of Nasha Academy

Truly inspirational, don't you think?

Until next time,

Gerry :)

Quote Week: September - Day 7

"I've actually tied my shoelaces so tightly that it hurts my feet."
- A.T.

Story behind quote:
A little follow-up from Day 4's quote. ANT explains to Master that this time, there is no way that her shoelaces were going to come undone as she has managed to tie them so tightly. However, upon closer inspection, they did look a little loose... ;)

Quote Week: September - Day 6

"Would you be interested in being part of the community male voices choir?"
- A member of the Community Male Voices Choir

Story behind quote:
Whilst being out in town today, Master happened to witness a man offering two women a leaflet on being part of the Community Male Voices Choir. At this, the two women just awkwardly declined and then walked off with confused expressions on their faces. And so they should have been displaying such emotions, why in the world would two women be interested in being part of a MALE voices choir?!

Quote Week: September - Day 5

"That is the wrong way to peel a banana!"
- A.A. H.W. A.T. J.C.

Story behind quote:
At break time, ArwaChihuahua eats a banana, however, she peels it from the end that is not the stem. After seeing this, Wicks, ANT, ArwaChihuahua and Master get into a heated debate about which is the right way to open a banana. Wicks, ANT and Master all agree that bananas should be opened from the stem, however ArwaChihuahua says that her way is correct as monkeys do the same. This then led to Wicks' argument that monkeys are less intelligent than humans as they do not construct buildings and other stuff...etc.

So, I am putting it out there: what is the correct way to peel a banana? Stem, or not? Comment below your opinions :p

Quote Week: September - Day 4

"It's this kind of triviality that makes it onto my blog!"
- J.C.

Story behind quote:
ANT: "Ugh, come on, shoelace! You can do it!"
(Note: ANT's shoelace is almost undone on her way to her first lesson.)
After hearing this, Master explains that it is exactly that kind of triviality that makes it onto this blog. And Master is correct :)

Quote Week: September - Day 3

"Wadz, let's talk about bracelets."
- A.T.

Story behing quote:
A prime example of ANT and her stumbling ways. She really brightens up life :)

Tuesday 11 September 2012

Quote Week: September - Day 2

"Got up this morning, in a trance, and ate breakfast. What a chore!"
- A.T.

Story behind quote:
In form time ANT describes the troubles of her morning.

Monday 10 September 2012

Quote Week: September - Day 1

"But I just said to her, 'No, you were on holiday!'"
- A.T.

Story behind quote:
At Nasha Academy, the first years go back to school a day earlier than the rest of students. On the first day back at the Academy, ANT and Master were discussing if that happened when they were first years. ANT explains how she had the same conversation previously with ArwaChihuahua, who thought we did, but ANT was determined that we didn't. ANT's argument to ArwaChihuahua was that Arwa wouldn't have known as she was on holiday. The triviality of this, combined with the way ANT explained it, had Master laughing for ages. Meanwhile, the rest of their table, which consists of The Beckster and Ruby, just gave Master strange looks. What a typical scene in the first form time of the academic year.
