As a follow-up to ANT's previous review on 'Big Rich Texas', we bring you 'Millionaire Matchmaker'! I've also created a new label for ANT's TV reviews so it should be easier to find these. Enjoy ;)
"This is perhaps the best reality show that I've ever had the good fortune to discover, and I'm neither ashamed nor embarrassed to admit it. The show follows Patti Stranger, queen bee of the 'Millionaire's Club', a dating service that caters for America's elite, as she attempts to match wealthy and often arrogant individuals with their soul mates...in return for just a few thousand, of course.
The whole concept of matchmaking has always struck me as a forced and unnatural method of finding love. However, particularly in regards to this show, watching said method is also very comical. To begin with, the fact that Patti, a millionaire herself, has made money by exploiting other people's desperation is unbelievable. It's tragic that these seemingly intelligent people have not realised that they are spending money on finding something that, if they were to simply go outside and live once in a while, would come to them sooner or later... and in much more honest circumstances too. I suppose after you reach a certain fortune you stop caring about what you spend as you have more than you could ever need anyway.
Not only this, but the ways in which she does this continues to humour me. The first stage of the matchmaking process is finding suitable candidates. The idea is that Patti and her minions question a number of men or women, depending on the client's preference. This is also Patti's chance to destroy as many people's self-confidence as possible. She is particularly brutal with the females. Despite the majority of them looking strikingly beautiful, Patti still has her complaints. Oh your hair? I don't like it, dye it blonde. Your outfit? I hate it, put on a revealing black mini dress because no man will ever love you looking like that. Oh you work in a restaurant? Well, I'm looking for a girl with aspiration, but you can come anyway, I always like to test the men with a bimbo. Your figure? Well, it could be better, lose some weight before you come back. *cough* Is that bitterness and jealousy I smell? *cough*
One alarming thing that this show seems to endorse is the idea that a person's affluence and appearance entitles them to a certain type of person. It's as if because these people are wealthy, the 'regular' people that are meeting them must hide everything about themselves and instead allow Patti to mould them into what the millionaires consider a beautiful, perfect person. She also does this with the millionaires themselves, coaching the shyer singletons into becoming fierce, confident and dominant in order to woo - like they won't ever find a partner if they don't. Shouldn't she be encouraging them to be themselves? That's how love blossoms in the real world, you learn to appreciate someone's individual qualities and characteristics. It also favours chivalry in every aspect, meaning that the rich individual must plan and pay for the date. I find it infuriating that she encourages stereotypical gender roles, scolding any female that dares to ask to plan the date. In most cases the men use this opportunity to, as Patti describes, 'lead with their money.' If, as Patti claims, the potential dates are not interested in money, then why not remove this aspect of the show? This is a genuine suggestion, why not send them away with £20 and see what they can come up with collectively?
However, despite my criticism, I cannot deny that Patti is a hugely successful woman. And, judging by her fortune, there must be something in her matchmaking serves. At the end of the day, I suppose we all need a little love in our lives. These people are just a little more despeare and, conveniently, able to pay a high price for it."

MouseMouseMonday #34: ConscienceSarah's rant
As mentioned in WNR #67, ConscienceSarah was having a rather stressful time writing her History coursework, so she decided to produce a mock-up. Here is said article:
MOCK-UP: What, in your view, were the short term economic impacts of Alexander II's reign?
I can't actually write about the economic impacts of Alexander II's reign because it's been so long since I've done a formal piece of writing I can't remember how. Having spent so much time on social media, my spelling and grammar has gone down the drain and the lack of decent Autocorrect means I actually have to think about each word I type out of fear of the dreaded red squiggly line. I could, however, write for hours about dragons, ancient kingdoms, friendship, lies and old feuds. Unfortunately though, this won't help me pass A-level History and get into university. I really need this coursework as well, or you'll find me, around exam time, huddled in the corner of an empty room crying because I can't write an essay under timed conditions, despite having been practicing for my entire school career.
I'm starting to realise how long I'm going to have to spend writing about Russian economy when I buck my ideas up and actually start writing something worth handing in. I'm pretty sure Da Vinci wouldn't have put up with this, or Einstein, Newton or Aristotle. They would have just walked out to go and discover something that modern life is based around. They might still have got detention though, or the equivalent of.
Great people are so misunderstood.
Unfortunately, I'm not a great person, I'm just really lazy and I can't be bothered to do my work. You know who else is lazy? Pandas. They can't even get off their fat butts to save their own species. And I think that's marginally worse than not handing in your History homework on time. They're decisive inaction could actually shape the future of Planet Earth, whereas my slight inability to concentrate on the task in hand would surely only cause problems for me. That's what the teachers love saying at Sixth Form. Nothing to do with pandas, just that if you don't hand your work in on time, it's only yourself you're causing problems for. And as they so frequently remind us: they've "already done [their] A-levels." Well that's just great isn't it? No words of motivation or encouragement. Just a straight up reminder that all your future academic pain will be self-inflicted. I think I'll end this here, you know. This is roughly how long my economic paragraph has to be so, yeah, why not leave the rant and actually pay attention to the work that will SHAPE THE ENTIRE FUTURE OF MY EXISTENCE!

MouseMouseMonday #33: Review - Big Rich Texas
Welcome back to MouseMouseMonday!
We feel that there is no better way to get back into the spirit of things than have ANT write us a review. Here it is:
"Today I’d like to discuss the train wreck that is Big Rich Texas. In short, it follows five wealthy wives and their spoilt daughters as they squabble, whine and complain about each other. I cannot pin point exactly what it is that I enjoy about this programme. But I have a few ideas:
• The angry, middle-aged housewives, failing miserably to conceal their age by paralyzing their faces with botox and cosmetic surgery.
• The fact that, despite their age, they act like children in every way, attacking each other’s life choices at every opportunity. I was wrong in thinking that everyone matures eventually.
• The embarrassment that are their kids, expectant on a lifetime of luxury whilst having no intention of accomplishing anything in life asides from experimenting with incest.
• The wives' distorted priorities. (One wife criticizing the parenting of her peers, whilst her daughter considers cosmetic surgery at sixteen, for instance. *face palms*)
I realise now that it is all very sad. Because although their fancy purses and elaborate lifestyles may seem attractive to the everyday eye, behind their smiles they conceal a lifetime of b****iness, disapproval and battered self-esteem. I cannot imagine a life so consumed by criticism and fakery.
Big Rich Texas targeted me whilst I was unwell, reeling me in with the promise of an hour’s worth of chaos in what was otherwise an uneventful day. In hindsight, I am more willing to say that it is simply disappointing that these people are continuing to breed and therefore continuing this ridiculous show.
Nevertheless, it rarely fails to bring drama and attitude that is, although tiresome, somewhat gripping. And despite its cast making me feel both infuriated and curious in equal measure, the possibility of a second series excites me for all the wrong reasons."

MouseMouseMonday #32 - Captain America: The Winter Soldier
Hello everyone!
Today I'm gonna be reviewing the latest Marvel movie (at the time of writing, 05/05/2014), 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'.
I went to see this on Tuesday 8th April (4 days after the initial release) but it's taken me so long to get this review out because I wanted to wait and see how my thoughts on it would change over a period of time. Also, during the past month, we've had official newsof a third Cap. movie, dur for release on 6th May, 2016. Now, before I get carried away on what could happen in the future, let's talk about the current movie.
As part of Marvel's Phase 2 stage of developing their cinematic universe, the events in Cap. 2 come after 'The Avengers'. Even though I tried my hardest not to over-analyse the trailer and read anything with possible spoilers, I was aware of the hype around this, with critics claiming that it is "even better than The Avengers". I don't know about you, but I think that's a pretty serious claim to make, which consequently got me thinking, 'what have Marvel done this time to top their success with The Avengers?'

MouseMouseMonday #31: Honey Badgers - Masters of Mayhem
G'day, everyone!
Today, we present to you a review on the second episode of BBC 2 documentary series 'Natural World 2014 - 2015'. This episode is based on honey badgers, and I think you'll agree with us that it was no coincience that the first broadcast date just happened to be a few days before ConscienceSarah's birthday.
Being part of B.A.D.G.E.R. we all felt obliged to tune in, and today I'll be sharing some of my thoughts on the programme. For whatever absurd reason, if you haven't yet seen it, you've got until Friday 16th May 2014 to take a look for yourselves.

With the title of the show being 'Honey Badgers - Masters of Mayhem', it sure did a good job of showing the fierce and chaotic side of the animals. It has proven that honey badgers are not as gentle as their less honey-obsessed relatives that represent the beloved house of Hufflepuff. Let's get this straight, never mess with a honey badger. With very few animals to call predators, honey badgers are fearless and more than capable of standing their ground during a fight.
Meanwhile, outside of the boxing ring, honey badgers are also immensely clever. This programme has shown that they are uncanny strategists who are resilient and more than determined to get what they want. Consequently, many of the show's presenters and interviewees, even though hopelessly trying to find new ways to keep the animals out of trouble, have been impressed with their mental ability, with one bee keeper expressing that he has 'a lot of respect' for these 'little warriors'.
Aside from showing that honey badgers are fearless and clever, there was little information about some of the key points brought up, for example, why the cubs stay with their mothers for so long. This was mainly due to the fact that honey badgers are very difficult to film, often destroying much equipment, and of course you never want to get too close to one. There was a particular scene where a fellow honey badger enthusiast was sitting and observing a bunch of honey badgers raiding some bins. At one point, he said 'silly honey badgers', to which I thought it would be rather cliché if he dropped his torch and went to pick it up but when he looks up again there'd be a honey badger running up and pouncing on him. Of course, that never happened, but still, don't insult honey badgers. Better safe than sorry/dead.
All in all, it was a lot of fun to watch!

MouseMouseMonday #29: Wicks reviews 'Thor: The Dark World'
Hello there peeps!
On this most exciting Monday, we have a MouseMouseMonday post for y'all! Sorry for the inconsistency, but you're gonna love this one! After seeing 'Thor: The Dark World', Wicks has brilliantly written us a review. Take a look:
Thor 2 Review (it rhymes!)

THOR 2!!! This has been my most highly-anticipated film, perhaps, ever. A consequence of which I have already seen it twice. Needless to say I was the obvious choice for blog reviewer.
I will try to keep this mostly spoiler-free, but the whole film is basically one big spoiler so I'll try to avoid any really big spoilers.
In a nutshell, the convergence is coming, the magical blurring between the worlds manifests itself as some pretty sweet sky portals. Now, any sort of huge cosmic event is going to draw some kind of evil-doer. With Loki imprisoned after the events of Avengers, the bad guy spotlight shifts to Malekith, king of the Dark Elves (mwah ha ha!) played by Christopher Eccleston, just about recognisable under all his layers of make-up.
Even the usual cast seems different; Thor is more serious, Odin less shouty and Dr Erik Selvig, well...more crazy. This change is not unwelcome though, things have changed post-Avengers and this gives the characters more depth. Much like the original Thor however, some of the more minor characters are largely forgotten - e.g. Volstagg, Sif, etc. But that does leave more room for Thor and Loki's dynamic duo.
All in all a very enjoyable film with action and equal amounts of laughter and heartbreak. A good follow-up to Thor and Avengers. But how long must we wait for a Loki film!?

P.S. How crowded is Asgardian prison?! 4 people/aliens/monsters (whatever) to a cell? Heck! If you're going to make so many enemies, build a bigger dungeon.

MouseMouseMonday #27: San Diego Comic-Con
Hello again!
Since I haven't posted much these days, I think it's fair that you have an extra post today!
As many of you know, San Diego Comic-Con took place over the past few days, and boy has it provided a whole bunch of new material to get excited about? Here are some of my picks of interviews and footage from the event. Unfortunately I did not attend, but if any of you did, I'd love to hear about your experiences!

So, we haven't had a post in a while mainly because it's been pretty quiet here and also Master's been on holiday. However, on the plane journey back home, Master managed to watch a few movies, so we're gonna do some mini-reviews on them right now!
1. Beautiful Creatures
Based on the popular teen series, this film was released around February this year. I haven't read the book, but the storyline in the movie is pretty easy to follow. I liked the historical reference to the American Civil War and also the characters' Southern accents! Take a look at the trailer:

MouseMouseMonday #23: YouTube Channels that you should check out
Hello!
Now, I've had the idea for this post in my head for quite a while, so I thought I'd put the plan into action...
Today, I've got 3 YouTube channels lined up for you, all of which I'm subscribed to and I know that myself and many of my mates, including Wicks and ConscienceSarah, thoroughly enjoy their videos.
Number 1: CinemaSins
Funny, with sarcasm to rival ANT, these are quite pedantic videos. Check out 'Everything Wrong With The Avengers In 3 Minutes Or Less':
Number 2: Bad Lip Reading
It's truly incredible what happens when people turn off the sound in movies and use their imagination. You'll see what I mean if you watch '"The Hunger Games" - A Bad Lip Reading':
Number 3: How It Should Have Ended
With absolutely brilliant animations and almost identical voices to the real actors & actresses, this channel is definitely one of Wicks and Master's favourites. Take a look at 'How Harry Potter Should Have Ended':

MouseMouseMonday #22: Films 2013 - Part 2
So here we have part 2! Let's get stuck into it :)
Going from where we left off, we have 'Ender's Game'
Currently not a lot has been given away, but I hear that the book is rather good, so whilst I wait, I shall read :)
'Ender's Game' is set to land in cinemas on 25th October.
Next...another Marvel movie...'Thor 2: The Dark World'!
Another film that Wicks and Master are both looking forward to, however there's not a lot to show for this film as of yet. More waiting...
'Thor 2: The Dark World' will be released on 8th November.

Not long after the release of Thor, we have the second Hunger Games installment...'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire'
It has been reported that they have just wrapped up shooting, but they've also released the official film poster, take a look:

Firstly, whatta novel! This is simply a must-see for all Ringers, especially after the first one.

Well, that all seems like a long way away, but I'm pretty sure time will fly by.

MouseMouseMonday #21: Films 2013 - Part 1
Hello!
So, I've got 8 highy-anticipated movies to talk about, but it'll be difficult to fit them all in one post. We'll look at 4 today and then have the other 4 next Monday! How does that sound? Let's get started :)
First up, 'The Host'!
Based on Stephenie Meyer's best-seller, this adaptation looks pretty promising. Take a look at the trailer:
'The Host' is set to be released in cinemas on 29th March.

Secondly...'Iron Man 3'
After two incredibly successful 'Iron Man' films, hopefully they're onto another winner. Here's the trailer:

Next, we have 'Percy Jackson and the Olympians: Sea of Monsters'
Well, that's a rather long title, but still, after the first movie, I can't wait to see this one. So far not a lot has been given away as it's still quite a way from being released, so we've just gotta be patient...

And finally for today, 'The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones'!
So, Wicks just lent me the book, and I must say it is pretty good so far. I know many are eagerly awaiting this movie (especially Wicks), so whilst we wait, let's roll the trailer:

First up...the Divergent Series!
Many of you will already know about this incredible book, but for those who don't, it is by Veronica Roth and I really recommend it! It is followed up by a second book called 'Insurgent'.

MouseMouseMonday #19: Music + Films
Hey guys!
So I haven't done one of these posts in a while, mostly because I haven't spotted a lot of interesting films or new music. But, after visiting the cinema yesterday with some of 'The Gang', I managed to see a few trailers for some cool up-coming movies.
First up...
'Taken 2'! We went to see this yesterday and I would say that, as a whole, we thought it was pretty good :)

Second...
I thought I'd be sneaky and put this in, Ellie Goulding's new song, 'I Know You Care', for the film, 'Now Is Good', starring Dakota Fanning and Jeremy Irvine (you know, from 'War Horse'?)/ Check it out, I must admit I love the song and the movie looks beautiful.

MouseMouseMonday #18: Music!
This Monday I thought I'd share with you some of the tunes that I have been mad about over the past week!
First up...
...Ellie Goulding's new single, 'Anything Could Happen', which is from her new album, 'Halcyon'!
Personally, I absolutely love this song and just cannot get it out of my head! Check out this cool lyric video for it:
The new album will be out on 8th October in the UK and on the 9th in the US.
Next...
...Example's awesome new tune, 'Say Nothing', from his forthcoming new album, 'The Evolution Of Man'.
Is it me, or do his songs get better and better? I can't stop pressing the repeat button on this, take a look at the music video (btw, I'm loving the badass blue filter on this ;)
The single will be out on 16th September, whilst we'll have to wait 'til 18th November for the new album.
And last but not least for today...
...'I Will Wait' by Mumford and Sons, which is taken from their new album 'Babel'
Like most of their awesome songs, this will not disappoint. See for yourselves:

This Monday we're going all out with up-coming animated movies...enjoy! :D

The third installment in the Madagascar series...'Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted'!
This year our favourite zoo quad are on a fantastic adventure all around Europe (yeah, the clue's in the name!) Check out the trailer:
